This work was workshopped by London Oriana Choir Scholars at the VOCES8 Centre and premiered at the Church of Our Most Holy Redeemer, London, in May 2024.
Yajie Ye’s Given in Farewell (b.1999):
This work is inspired by the Chinese love poem ‘Zeng Bie’ by Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu. It evokes the imagery of a parting couple — lovers who cannot bear to separate from their beloved yet are compelled to part, finding their emotions to be intricate and multifaceted.
